June 24

It never ceases to amaze me how you can plan so well for life and then it throws you a big curve ball!  The JEN PLAN for this year was for Sara and Julie to take a year off of Performance dance in order to participate in high school activities and for Julie to experience other activities besides dance.  Well, as it turns out, Sara didn't make the high school cheer squad (gasp!) and Julie has begged us to continue to let her dance.  My heart broke for Sara because she had struggled emotionally with the decision to stop dancing for a year and try competitive high school cheer.  This was a big decision for her that she struggled with for many months.  When she out ran, out tumbled, and out danced over half of the girls who tried out for the cheer team and was not selected for the team, it was a crushing blow to her spirit.  You may be wondering (along with us) WHY she wasn't selected for the team!?

"WHY" does life throw us unexpected curves?  How many times have we looked at ourselves and felt cheated by others, that life was unfair, and that disappointment is a mainstay in life no matter how smart, talented, or kind you are?  These past weeks have taught my family many things that we already knew...1) God has the Ultimate Plan 2) It is a waste of time to worry or be upset about the decisions or PLANS of other people 3) Rejoice in the talents and people that God has given you and use them to create positive experiences for those around you!

No doubt, rejection hurts.  Some of us have to experience more of it than others.  If we let rejection and negativity impact our lives, we limit ourselves to other opportunities that begging for our attention.  Find those people and places that nurture your spirit and hold them dear to your heart.

Look for Sara and Julie to light up the stage at Royal Dance Works next season!!

June 5, 2011

This weekend was full of great surprises!  On Saturday morning, Sara and Julie competed in their first City of Peoria Dive Meet at Sunrise Mountain Pool.  Julie did 3 dives and placed 10th in her division.  Sara did 4 dives and placed 1st in her division.  We are so proud of our girls!

Julie spent the rest of the day in dance classes and rehearsing for the big ballet production for recital.  Saturday night, we enjoyed the annual Royal Dance Works banquet to celebrate another year of performance for Sara and Julie.  Chris was sick this weekend and was not able to attend.

Sunday ended with a family dinner with Grandma and Grandpa Lauzon.  The Gravatt family came over and we started to plan our trip to Lake Tahoe at the end of June.  Topping the list of adventures includes whitewater rafting and a cataraman ride.

This week we have recital pictures, dive practice, tumbling, and tutoring.
